EXPRESSING AND UNDERSTANDING

These photos capture a drum circle in Meridian park on a brisk March afternoon. The rhythms were all improvised yet they felt akin to songs. The only set arrangement was the meeting time. As one drummer started a rhythm, the rest followed. It was fascinating capturing these rhythms. These photos focused on the the interaction between the drums and drummers. Framing people as a vector in which these rhythms can be made. They don't own the rhythms, they're merely experiencing them as is everyone else.

All of these photos were taken in Meridian Park in Washington, D.C.
