EXPRESSING AND UNDERSTANDING

Reminiscent of the beautiful bonfires of my childhood, this piece reflects on the notion that one must destroy in order to build. The warm hues arranged in an organic structure lend towards the notion that destruction functions as a form of growth. In the Black community, this notion is both pertinent and powerful as the cure to some of our ills will require a significant reconfiguration of the way things are done both within and outside of our community.
