EXPRESSING AND UNDERSTANDING
This photo series captures an amazing day my friends and I spent at the Del Mar Fair outside of beautiful San Diego, California. The calm, overcast Sunday afternoon was a perfect place to rendezvous after nearly a year of not seeing one another. The sights, smells, and sounds of the fair were a much missed experience after a year of the pandemic. Viewing the many facets of life present at the fair was the highlight as people from various walks of life gathered on these small fair grounds for greasy food, dizzying rides, and Sisyphean games. As always, the people made this photo series impactful for me. Seeing so many strangers was oddly comforting after a year in isolation and it made me realize how enjoyable it can be to be lost in a sea of people floating through time and space.
Despite the amazing friends I spent the day at the fair with, the double entendre of "fair weather" and "fair-weather" friends was irresistible. I'm grateful to still be friends with everyone!
